Fix your Google Business Profile in 20 minutes

Most local businesses have a half-filled profile. Fix these six things and you will see the difference on Maps.

If your shop is on Google Maps but no enquiries are coming in, the problem is in the profile before it is in the website. Maps ranking depends heavily on how complete and how active your profile is.

Category matters most

Pick one primary category, and pick the one you actually do. "Dentist" and "Dental clinic" return different results. Choose the wrong one and you simply will not appear in the search you should be appearing in.

At least 20 photos

The board outside, the view inside, the staff, and the work itself. Google ranks profiles higher when new photos keep arriving. Two or three a month is enough.

Hours and holidays

Fill in the special holiday hours. If you are closed for Diwali and the profile says open, a customer travels to your shop, finds it shut, and leaves you a one-star review.

Learn to ask for reviews

Create your short Google review link and send it on WhatsApp the moment the customer leaves. Nobody writes a review two days later. Two reviews a week is plenty if it is consistent.

Reply to every review

The good ones and the bad ones. Do not get defensive about a bad review — acknowledge it and write what you will do about it. The person reading is judging your reply, not the review.

Link your website

Put the website link in the profile. A profile works without a site, but conversion is much better with one, because the customer wants to confirm you are real.
